Use the official recognition conditions
The Foreign Ministry sets out restrictions for people born abroad who hold another citizenship, alongside exceptions. These include specified parent or grandparent citizenship conditions, qualifying parental residence and protected applications. The complete conditions matter; “parent or grandparent only” is not a sufficient eligibility test.

What this means for planning
My recommendation is to document the relevant facts before paying for a large application project. Do not assume that an Italian change predicts a Polish or Romanian change, or that simply starting research protects a future application.
